MIC radio equipment certification (formerly TELEC), PSE electrical safety — Japan has a rigorous independent certification system requiring local representation.

Key Requirements

Japan Representative

Required for all MIC certification. We provide Japan domestic representative service — included with certification package.

Japanese Labeling

Products must bear the Giteki mark (技適マーク) for wireless and PSE mark for safety. Labels must include Japanese text.

Module Certification

Using a pre-certified MIC module can simplify the full product certification process. We can advise on module selection.

Documentation

Japanese-language user manuals, block diagrams, circuit diagrams, and component lists required. We can assist with translation.

PSE Categories

PSE Round (乙种)

Most consumer electronics: TWS earphones, smart watches, cameras, USB-powered devices, LED lighting. Self-declaration with third-party test report (recommended).

PSE Diamond (甲种)

Safety-critical items: Power cords, fuses, wiring devices, some power adapters. Requires certification by METI-registered body + factory inspection.
